Designing your benefits scheme
A well-designed employee benefits scheme can engage employees and help attract and retain key talent. It can also help your business and your colleagues take advantage of savings through salary sacrifice. Embarking on scheme design can be complex, so follow Ceridian’s Top Tips to help you start designing your benefits scheme:
Engage a specialist provider: Using the services of a specialist provider will allow you to see all options objectively. Their wealth of experience will help when you come to choose all the elements of designing and implementing your scheme. Ceridian’s partner, Vebnet, is a market leading benefits provider and can advise you on the best approach for your business needs and budget.
Understand your employee demographic: The same benefits will not be appropriate for all demographics. Whilst it may not be feasible to provide ‘something for everyone’, the benefits on offer should be broad enough to appeal to most employees. When creating your scheme, you need to consider your employee population and also the climate they are working in.
Involve your employees: When designing your benefits scheme, get your employees involved as much as possible. Ultimately, the benefits are aimed at them, so gain their views on what they would like to receive. Whether you use surveys or focus groups, employee input is invaluable in shaping a scheme relevant for your business – both in terms of benefits offered, method of delivery and communication.
Evaluate: Regular reviews of your benefits scheme will enable you to optimise your benefits strategy. This could highlight benefits that are no longer relevant to your employees or areas that could benefit from clearer communication.
Ceridian can help you put together an effective Flexible Scheme that motivates your employees and brings value back into your organisation.
