This year keep on track
How to... make New Year's resolutions that stick
The New Year is a chance for us to make changes for improvement. Every year millions of us make resolutions, but only a fraction of us see them through to the end of the year.
So why do so many of us break our resolutions?
Keeping a resolution can be tough. Often we find that we don’t have enough support or encouragement from work colleagues, managers or family to motivate us to keep to our resolutions.
Steps you can take:
First and foremost, and probably the most important of all – make sure that all resolutions are (S)pecific (M)easurable (A)chievable (R)alistic (T)ime based.
Setting a goal is not the main thing. It is deciding how you will go about achieving it and staying with that plan. Tom Landry
Plan your resolution in advance. This will give you time to reflect on your goal and how to achieve it.
Don't repeat last year’s resolution, Or, if you do, at least pick a different technique to achieve it.
Celebrate your success. Plan a reward for when you achieve your goal. This will give you something to focus on.
Remember, these are only guidelines, so find a way that makes YOU feel comfortable to fulfill your goals, and don’t give into peer pressure. Good luck.
