Getting back into the swing of work!
Beat those post-holiday blues
For many of us that holiday feeling can fade all too quickly. The anxiety or sense of dread at the thought of returning to a huge backlog of work is likely to make your employees subject to what psychologists are describing as 'Post-Holiday Syndrome'. Tell-tale signals include: tiredness, lack of appetite, couldn't-care-less attitude, being irritable, sadness and anxiety.
Don't hesitate to take measures to prevent your employees from being taken over by post-holiday blues. Why not try using some of our simple tips to help you get your employees back into the swing of work
Ease back into work gently: It can be tempting to try and tackle everything you missed while away on holiday. This can often be counterproductive - employees may end up feeling burnt out and under pressure. If possible, don't plan any big meetings or set any major deadlines. Try to allow at least a couple of days with a sensible schedule to work to.
Highlight company goals for the year ahead: Hold a meeting welcoming all staff back for the New Year and take this as an opportunity to give a quick recap about the company's goals for the year ahead. Maybe even arrange one to one's with each employee, to remind them of their personal goals and to also keep them on the right track.
A clear workspace makes a clear mind: Your employees could spend some time in their first morning tidying their workspace – this will make them feel more organised, and as though it’s a fresh start to the New Year.
