National Payroll Week is approaching

National Payroll Week is 10th to 14th September, so why not take this opportunity to say "thank you" to all the people in your business who make payroll happen?

According to the IPP, payroll professionals pay out £1 trillion to more than 50 million people every month, involving 1000 different regulations.

Your payroll team works under pressure - and to deadline! Payroll teams sift through 2900 forms from HMRC, and those with 500 or more employees face fines of up to £1.5 million if they submit incorrect P9 / P11D forms.

Often the "unsung heroes" in the company, payroll teams across the UK not only make sure that pay day is something to look forward to for millions of employees but also collect almost half of all the taxes the government receives. So, if you work in payroll, you're not just keeping your company running smoothly, you're keeping the country in the black!

National Payroll Week is a great chance to say thanks to those unsung heroes. Check out some of our ideas for saying “Thank you” for all this hard work:

• Send an email round your company, promoting the hard work that goes into your payroll and saying thank you.  Include a link to Ceridian’s “understand your payslip" tool and help reduce queries.
• If your payroll is done for you by Ceridian or another partner provider, then why not find out if there’s an Employee of the Month scheme or similar that you can nominate your contact for?
• Treat your payroll colleagues to a celebratory coffee break or breakfast – break out the buns and biscuits, order some flowers or buy some presents for the team.
