HR struggling to meet standards
— 7 November 2007 —
HR is struggling to achieve acceptable delivery standards, according to a recent survey of 168 HR Directors.
The survey explored attitudes towards HR outsourcing, and how HR Directors felt about a variety of issues such as age diversity and staff retention.
Nearly a fifth of those surveyed said that they still receive requests for candidates of a particular age from line managers, while only 55% said that they were in control of diversity within their organisation.
Two thirds of those surveyed felt that HR was failing in functions such as employee motivation, workforce planning, talent management and flexible working practises, and many believed that they had no access to key information and figures.
Indeed, organisational knowledge appeared to be lacking in all areas except for staff turnover. Many claimed that they had almost no access to management statistics while admitting that they were afraid of outsourcing their HR functions.
For HR Directors to be confident that outsourcing is the right decision for them to make they have to be sure that they have the right information about their current organisation and its strategy. This will allow them to design a future HR organisation that delivers value to their business, enabling them to focus on human capital management approaches that give their business real competitive advantage.Karan Paige, Chief People Officer, Ceridian UK
