RTI - Have you registered?

RTI is fast approaching. From April 2013, employers will be legally required to report PAYE in real time. This means that information about all PAYE payments needs to be submitted to HMRC electronically each time a payment is made as part of the payroll process, rather than at the end of the year as they are now.

HMRC has recently published recommendations for employers to prepare as early as they can for PAYE reform.

Ruth Owen, HMRC’s RTI chief says employers must act now:

Although reporting PAYE in real time will be straightforward for most, some preparation is needed. There is more to it than simply buying or updating software – although this is key.

Employers may need to add employees such as casuals or those below the Lower Earnings Limit to their payroll system and must think about their payroll practices to make sure that they work for real-time reporting.Ruth Owen, HMRC’s RTI Chief

The majority of our customers have now registered for Ceridian’s RTI Electronic Exchange Service. If you have signed up, but require more information, get in touch with your regular Ceridian payroll contact who will be able to help or visit the RTI resources area.

For those of you that have not yet registered, please get in touch so we can let you know of the next steps. If you have nine employees or less, there is an option to complete RTI reporting via HMRC online tools. In all other instances you will be required to find a solution.

Ceridian’s RTI Electronic Exchange Service automatically sends RTI data to HMRC, and along with the HMRC’s basic PAYE tools for additional employer reporting, will provide you with an overarching solution to meet your RTI requirements.
