Asda re-signs with Ceridian

ASDA, Britain’s best value supermarket, recently signed a new multi-million pound deal with Ceridian, one of the largest providers of human resource services in the world, for the provision of managed HR and payroll services across its 360 stores in England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland covering 160,000 colleagues.  The new deal follows an in-depth competitive review and extends ASDA’s nine-year relationship with Ceridian for a further three years.

Doug Sawers, managing director of Ceridian in the UK, commented: “Both companies operate in highly competitive markets and need to constantly push the boundaries to maintain competitive advantage.  Measurement of success is essential and, against key performance indicators, we score an impressive 99.96 per cent and an ever-rising customer satisfaction rating.  However, despite these successes and an existing close partnership, we were under no illusions that ASDA was conducting a serious review of its supply arrangements.  Therefore, to come through this rigorous and competitive exercise with a new contract is testament to the professionalism of our people and our record for delivering added value to the HR function.”

David Smith, People Director at ASDA, said: “We firmly believe our people make the difference and indeed 60 per cent of our colleagues enjoy success in the company through two ‘all colleague’ share ownership schemes.  Delivery of accurate and timely payroll to around 13,000 Salaried and over 147,000 hourly- paid colleagues is critical, and we back this up with the provision of innovative HR initiatives such as our many flexible leave schemes.  So we look to Ceridian for far more than managed payroll and over the next three years will be working together to provide the highest quality services to our UK colleagues.”

As part of the new agreement, Ceridian have provided a new sickness automation solution, loan automation solution and reviewing all other data automation processes.  In addition, more services will be delivered by Ceridian’s wholly-owned Mauritius service centre including payroll processing, finance administration, technical support and data entry.
