Ceridian to create 130 Scots jobs

Ceridian will create a new Technology Centre of Excellence, which will host a R&D Technology and IT Support Centre, at its base in Renfrew. The company, which currently started out with 70 employees in Scotland, has experienced sharp growth and currently employs 300 from its Glasgow operations.

The project is supported by a RSA grant of £1.1million from Scottish Development International (SDI).

The First Minister met representatives from Ceridian in New York as part of his Scotland Week programme of business and trade meetings designed to boost investment and employment in Scotland.

Welcoming the announcement, Mr Salmond said:

“Financial services remains at the heart of Scotland’s economy. Ceridian is a world-renowned financial services company that plays a key role in the Scottish financial services sector.

“Ceridian already employ hundreds of people in Scotland and this project will now bring the total company headcount to 400 in Scotland. I am delighted that Ceridian are continuing to invest in Scotland, they are one of the 580 US owned companies in Scotland, employing almost 100,000 people altogether.

“Scotland has been recognised as the place for foreign direct investment. The 2013 Ernst & Young Attractiveness Survey described Scotland’s performance as in attracting inward investment as ‘sparkling’ and I am delighted to evidence of this in action.

“These figures are continuing to rise and I have no doubt that Scotland is a country where people want to, and are continuing to, invest this year and for years to come.”

Ceridian’s growth is fuelled by a fully integrated HR solution and its reputation for high-quality services in HR and managed payroll to UK corporate. This latest investment will support future growth by enabling the company to increase its technology development skills from the Scottish base.
