Payroll providers strike back on enrolment
Payroll firms wounded by accusations of reacting slowly to auto-enrolment have hit back, saying pension providers are not best suited to achieving compliance.
Criticisms of payroll providers have become so commonplace that the Pensions Regulator published an open letter to the industry in December, urging it to speed up disclosure of auto-enrolment plans.
Concern has led to many pension administrators and providers offering solutions that import payroll data to ensure the right people are enrolled. But payroll firms say this would be less efficient and many have now unveiled their approach to auto-enrolment.
